Owners, Chef Thongjan and her husband opened Mai Thai in Bastrop Texas in 2011 with a small loan from the family. Thongjan has been cooking her entire life, she started her career selling food on the streets of small town central Thailand as a teenager. She eventually got a job as a cook at a seaside resort. She worked there mastering her cooking skills until she became one of the head chefs. It’s there she meet her American husband and immigrated to America In 2001. Being passionate food, she insists on does all the shopping and much of the produce we use comes from our own farm greenhouse
